Among
the orchestra scores prepared by arranger Leo Peracchi for the recording
of the Long Play "Por toda minha vida" (Through all my
life), in 1959, we found a score
for the song "Eu não existo sem você", in
Jobim's own handwriting.
To
celebrate the finding, we have started a new section on music
scores.

João
Gilberto's 70th birthday |
June
10, 2001, was the date of Gilberto's 70th anniversary.
A celebration was being prepared at Maracanã Soccer Stadium,
Rio de Janeiro, featuring shows with invited artists. Gilberto
himself asked for its cancellation. It seems that the singer
doesn't feel like celebrating, and will just keep doing what
he does best: playing his fantastic guitar. |

I
love you, São Paulo (Te amo São Paulo)
An yet unpublished song by Jobim was premiered on Brazilian
TV on Jan 25, 2001. The composer and his New Band were planning
to record it since 1992, with the intention of selling it
for advertising. The song has been in the archives of a recording
studio in S. Paulo until it was recently bought by Morumbi
Shopping to be used on a TV commercial.
The advertisement was first aired on the date of the anniversary
of the city of São Paulo, which coincides with Tom
Jobim's birthday.

| Luiz
Bonfá, Brazilian guitarist and composer, died on
Jan 12, 2001, in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Bonfá and
Jobim used to be good friends and wrote a few songs together,
most of them having nature and ecology as main motif. |

The
first recording of Águas de Março (Waters of March)
was made by Tom Jobim himself, and was released on May, 1972, in
the Disco de Bolso (Pocket Record), a bonus record included in the
weekly magazine O Pasquim. Listen
to the recording, check out the original
score in Jobim's handwriting, and see more info on the record

Incredibly
rare recordings: Jobim sings "Eu preciso de você",
and plays piano with the orchestra. Jobim and João Gilberto
sing together "Meditação" (Meditation).
Vinicius de Moraes sings "Amor em paz" (Once I loved),
backed by Jobim on the guitar. Don't
miss.
Check out also Sylvia Telles singing "Amor sem adeus"
with Calvin Jackson, and "Estrada do sol" with Barney
Kessel.

Cancioneiro
Jobim
(The Jobim Song Collection) |
|
The
first volume of the Cancioneiro
Jobim (Jobim Song Collection) is already available at book stores
in Brazil. The collection comprises six books containing sheet music
for practically all of Jobim's works, around 300. During the search
in the family archives to obtain a complete song listing, a few
lost or unknown titles have come up. Take a look at the sheet
music for "Brigas", by Jobim and Newton Mendonça
- authors of such hits as "Desafinado" and "One note
samba".
